Cultural tourism is one of the prominent and attractive sectors of tourism industry that is divided to various parts such as artistic, religious and etc. Today, many of countries use this mean to show richness of their culture and nation.

The ancient nations of Middle East region also enjoy this part of tourism to expand their ability in tourism beside of increase of convergence with other nations and their culture. Holding film festivals is one of the most famous methods in this regard and many of international tourists attends these festivals all over the world.

Inaugurated in 1964 at the initiation of Dr. Avni Tolunay, the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival has evolved over the years into the beating heart of Turkish national cinema, marking a crucial launch pad in the careers of many outstanding filmmakers, among them the likes of Metin Erksan, Yılmaz Güney, Bilge Olgaç, Atıf Yılmaz, Yavuz Turgul, Ömer Kavur, Zeki Demirkubuz, Yeşim Ustaoğlu, Nuri Bilge Ceylan and Reha Erdem.

Introduced by the Festival with a view to making a tangible contribution to Turkish cinema, the Antalya Film Forum has transformed Antalya into the hub of the national film industry, providing support to large numbers of young and independent filmmakers. The event comprises four different platforms: Fiction Pitching, Fiction Work in Progress, Documentary Work in Progress and the Sümer Tilmaç Antalya Film Support Fund. In its five editions so far, the Antalya Film Forum has played a key role in the creation of many Turkish films during their production journey, including national and international festival award-winners such as Kelebekler (Butterflies, Tolga Karaçelik), Kız Kardeşler (A Tale of Three Sisters, Emin Alper), Daha (More, Onur Saylak), Güvercin (The Pigeon, Banu Sıvacı), Borç (Debt, Vuslat Saraçoğlu), Son Çıkış (Siren’s Call, Ramin Matin), Mr. Gay Syria (Ayşe Toprak) and Güven (Trust, Sefa Öztürk).
Today, the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival is regarded as one of the most prestigious film festivals in Asia and Europe, attracting to the Mediterranean city celebrity guests from around the world, among them István Szabó, Francis Ford Coppola, Emir Kusturica, Catherine Deneuve, Bob Rafelson, Abbas Kiarostami, Bahman Ghobadi, Asghar Farhadi, Theresa Russell, Krzysztof Zanussi, Helen Mirren, Paul Verhoeven, Faye Dunaway, Harvey Keitel, Mickey Rourke, Audrey Tautou and Adrien Brody. As a reflection of the quality standards achieved in its organization and the Festival’s own distinctive setup, the Antalya Golden Orange has earned recognition by FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers’ Associations) to join the ranks of the world’s premier film festivals.
